super quick shepherd's pie

why?

LR and myself are self-professed nerds, we play computer games and invite friends over for boardgames sessions :) But, gamers get hungry too and especially after a competitive and intense session we want to be fed FAST - Fast As a Speeding Train FAST.

I had help in the kitchen. We were that hungry!

success?

In 45 min dinner was served! Call me a worker! I had to snap a picture before it was all gone! Taste was definitely not compromised.

Super Quick Shepherd's Pie (serves very hungry 3 ppl)

INGREDIENTS

3 medium US potatoes, peeled and halved
200g of pumpkin, cubed
4 tbs of butter
A pinch of nutmeg & cinnamon
1 tbs butter for frying
500g minced beef
1 cup of frozen peas
1 cup of sliced button mushrooms
1 medium white onion chopped
4 cloves of garlic chopped finely
3 slices of cheese / grated cheese (mozzarella would be nice)

2 tbs of Worcester sauce
2 tbs of sherry
2 tbs of BBQ sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tsp of rosemary

METHOD:
  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees
  2. Boil potatoes and pumpkin in salted water till soft
  3. Drain and mash with butter
  4. Add a pinch of nutmeg and cinnamon
  5. Fry the onions and garlic in butter till fragrant
  6. Add in the beef to brown
  7. Add in (A)
  8. Add in the peas and mushroom to fry for another 5 min
  9. Lay out the beef in a casserole dish
  10. Grate / lay the cheese on top
  11. Lay the mash over
  12. Bake in the oven till the top is lightly browned.
